The lanes are narrow, sloping, stone-paved; parking on the piazzetta is limited to a few dozen spaces, and on Thursday mornings — the day of the legendary craft market that draws hundreds of visitors from along the coast — finding a car spot by 11:00 is a feat. The famous craft market that brings the village piazzetta to life every Thursday morning from mid-June to mid-September. Stalls of Gallura ceramics, traditional textiles, filigree jewellery, small antiques and local food products. The busiest day on all of Costa Smeralda.
The granite formations surrounding the village are one of the most characteristic panoramas of Gallura. Imposing, smoothed by wind and rain over millions of years. Reached by gentle trekking paths starting from the centre. Breathtaking view at sunset, when the granite turns pink.

Getting around
On market day it's impossible to park the car. By scooter you arrive, park and enjoy the atmosphere.

Not advised, as anywhere in Italy: the alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, with frequent checks especially on summer weekends. Practical solution: Agriturismo Li Paràuli is 5 minutes away, many B&Bs are inside the village, and for Porto Cervo it's better to take a taxi (single Olbia-Costa Smeralda number) or return early.
San Pantaleo is the perfect base for those who want the best of both worlds: the day among the exclusive coves of Porto Cervo (15 minutes of scenic curves) and the evening in the village, where the noise of fashionable venues doesn't reach. In 25 minutes you also drop down to Porto Rotondo and in 35 you reach the pines of San Teodoro. On Thursday morning, however, dedicate it to the market: take the scooter, set off early, wander among the stalls of textiles, ceramics and culurgiones, and stop for lunch at Giagoni. It's the experience you'll tell about when you return home.
